ABRAXIS® ES Domoic Acid (ASP), ELISA, 96-test
Request InfoABRAXIS® ES (Extended Sensitivity) Domoic Acid (ASP) ELISA Kit, a versatile testing solution designed to support both environmental monitoring and shellfish safety programs. The novel test kit provides the sensitivity required for low-level detection of amnesic shellfish poisoning (ASP) toxin, domoic acid, in water while also offering regulatory-level detection in shellfish. Domoic acid, the toxin responsible for ASP, is produced by certain marine algae and can accumulate in shellfish, posing risks to human health and marine ecosystems. Routine monitoring is essential to help environmental agencies, researchers, and seafood producers identify contamination events and protect public health.
- Extended sensitivity for low-level domoic acid detection in water samples
- Regulatory-level detection for shellfish testing
- Single-kit solution supports multiple sample types and test ranges to reduce inventory requirements
- Rapid, user-friendly ELISA format suitable for routine monitoring and screening programs
- Reliable and reproducible performance for environmental and food safety applications
The ABRAXIS® ES Domoic Acid assay is a direct competitive ELISA assay based on the specific recognition of domoic acid by antibodies. During the assay, domoic acid present in the sample competes with a domoic acid-protein conjugate immobilized on the microtiter plate for binding to the anti-domoic acid-HRP conjugate. Following incubation and a wash, the addition of the substrate solution will generate a color signal. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the concentration of domoic acid in the sample. After a specified reaction time, the enzymatic reaction is stopped, and the absorbance is measured using an ELISA plate reader.
Test ranges:
- Fresh water: 0.05 – 3 ppb
- Seawater/marine water: 0.25 - 15 ppb (after dilution)
- Shellfish tissue: 10 – 600 ppb or 0.010 ug/100g – 0.60 ug/100g (after extraction with first dilution) and 500 - 30,000 ppb or 0.50 ug/100g - 30 ug/100g (after extraction and both dilutions)
